JigZaw develops web service applications. Our Pieces Bookmarklet is a content creation tool - it uses Web Services from Amazon.com (and other services in the future) to generate rich links to Amazon.com for site creators and webloggers to quickly add to their pages.
To use Pieces Bookmarklet during our beta, please copy the bookmarklet (follow the 'Pieces Bookmarklet' Links) from the links appropriate for your OS and Browser combo. You can then use the Bookmarklet on your Browser, or here on our website.
Highlight the name or author of a book, movie, or album you wish to link to and push the 'Pieces' link. A pop-up window will open with your selected text entered. You can then select from the variety of web services available, as well as enter your Amazon.com Associate ID (note: if you do not enter one, JigZaw's associate ID will be used in the links you create - this will help us pay for the servers providing this service).
If only one item matches, you will see a collection of information on that item and the HTML code for you to cut and paste into your site that will generate that item information. If multiple items match, you will see a set of matching items, and you can select the one that is the item you were looking for.
As we continue to develop Pieces Bookmarklet you will see new services and features become available. A few that we have to start:
- ISBN.nu link - ISBN.nu offers links to multiple bookstores as well as rich details on a given book title.
- Formatted HTML - if you are not using a web based editor which may replace returns with additional HTML code, we offer a formatted version of the generated HTML for you to cut and paste into your favorite editor.
- Similar items - this returns links ranked by Amazon as being similar to the item you have selected.
- *NEW* Multiple formats of output - Small, Medium, and Full.
- *NEW* Supports all media formats: Books, DVDs, Videos, and CDs. The structure and labeling if returned data is adjusted by category desired.
- *NEW* Search indicates the medium of the returned results. Returned results are now sortable.
- *NEW* Code enhancements to fix a bug regarding items that were not retuning the proper ASIN number.
- *NEW* A new option to incorporate items in your page utilizing a JavaScript include. This allows you to provide dynamically generated content, including updated pricing and availability information on the items you wish to list.
Future enhancements will include:
- Integration with the Google API and JigZaw's core 'Pieces' technology to provide a set of the most relevant links for a given book from Google. This uses the Google API web service as well as JigZaw's AI technology to select the best set of links.
